Introducing the Westfield Grand Prix
A new competition to find the sustainable champions of tomorrow!.
For the past 15 years, URW has given an award to the most innovative retail concepts in France – with Spain joining the programme a couple of years ago. Now, we are expanding the concept into the Westfield Grand Prix, an annual competition taking place in the UK, France, Spain and Germany-Austria, which will recognise and reward the sustainable retail champions of tomorrow..
Each year, we will call for entries from young businesses and start-ups across retail, leisure, dining, entertainment, health & wellbeing, and services, whose solutions facilitate responsible consumption and sustainable living. A panel of experts in each territory will pick a winner and there will be a separate People’s Choice award, voted for by visitors to our shopping centres.
All winners will be given one year of prime space in a local Westfield shopping centre along with support for a store fit-out, mentoring and an advertising package from our retail media agency Westfield Rise.
“The new edition of the Westfield Grand Prix is a key initiative in our ambition to support the development of the future of sustainable retail,” said Anne-Sophie Sancerre, Chief Customer & Retail Officer. “We want to create a platform to highlight sustainable concepts, an ambition we share with our customers – 80% of whom tell us that sustainability plays a key role in their purchasing decisions. The competition will enable us to find new, talented entrepreneurs and facilitate their success through the strength of the Westfield centres and through access to the millions of visitors who come through our doors.”
For this year, the selection of the finalists, the public vote and the final European Jury are all set to take place in September. Stay tuned for the official announcement of the winners this Autumn!
