Partnering towards the low-carbon transition of real estate assets
During the SIBCA (Salon de l'Immobilier Bas Carbone), held in Paris from 22 to 24 September, URW, Klépierre and BBCA (Association pour le Développement du Bâtiment Bas Carbone) have announced the launch of work on the creation of the first low-carbon label for retail property.
As real estate assets are key to the low-carbon transition, the “BBCA Commerce” label will enable to attest of the exemplary nature of a retail building in terms of carbon footprint, from construction to operation.
With this major development for the real estate sector, the 3 stakeholders are taking on a new challenge: determining the characteristics of low-carbon commerce, following a similar methodology to the one successfully implemented for the existing BBCA standards for collective housing and offices, low-carbon neighbourhood and low-carbon operation.
URW plays an essential role in the future of cities and their environmental transition. With its "Better Places 2030" strategy, the Group committed in 2016 to reducing its carbon emissions by 50% across its entire value chain by 2030.
As a pioneer in the sector, we are proud to initiate this label alongside Klépierre and BBCA, and to commit our industry to an even more virtuous approach to the construction and operation of our buildings.
