Unibail Rodamco Westfield recognised for Green Power Leadership
For the first time, Unibail-Rodamco-Westfield has earned a spot on the US Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) National Top 100 List of the largest green power users from the Green Power Partnership (GPP). We also made the EPA’s Top 30 List for companies generating and consuming green power on-site.
By moving the needle in the voluntary green power market, we are helping to reduce the negative health impacts of air emissions including those related to ozone, fine particles, acid rain, and regional haze. According to the EPA, Unibail-Rodamco-Westfield’s green power use of nearly 147 million kilowatt-hours (kWh), which represents more than 54% of our US operations’ total power needs, is equivalent to the annual electricity use of more than 13,000 average American homes!
Accelerating our commitment to environmental sustainability has remained a top priority, even while focusing on our community response efforts during the COVID-19 crisis. We are proud to be recognised by the US Environmental Protection Agency for being a leader in the green power market. By making the choice to use green power, we reduce our emissions footprint – in line with our Better Places 2030 CSR strategy – while also sending a message to others across the United States that using green power is smart business.
The Green Power Partnership is a voluntary programme that helps increase green power use among US organisations to advance the American market for green power and development of those sources as a way to reduce air pollution and other environmental impacts associated with electricity use. The Partnership currently has more than 1,500 Partners voluntarily using more than 67 billion kilowatt-hours of green power annually. Partners include a wide variety of leading organisations such as Fortune 500® companies; small and medium sized businesses; local, state, and federal governments; and colleges and universities.
