Unibail-Rodamco-Westfield launches the “Gran Premio Retail” in Spain
Building on the success of the Grand Prix Commerce in France, Unibail-Rodamco-Westfield launches its Spanish edition – the “Gran Premio Retail”, to foster innovation in retail.
Dedicated to start-ups and entrepreneurs who innovate in the retail sector, the competition offers promising new concepts the opportunity to develop within the Group’s shopping destinations.
Innovation is part of our DNA. By sourcing new ideas and concepts, we aim to stay ahead and anticipate what is next in a continuously evolving industry. Created in France 12 years ago, the Grand Prix Commerce Unibail-Rodamco-Westfield soon became a can’t-miss event for retail entrepreneurs, and a springboard for the most innovative projects in the business. 37 startups have been awarded since 2007. All demonstrated a strong identity and the ability to provide a unique experience to their customers, in a wide range of sectors: food, beauty and wellness, fashion, leisure, etc.
With the launch of the Gran Premio Retail in Spain, Unibail-Rodamco-Westfield demonstrates once again its commitment to shaping the retail of tomorrow by giving young brands access to the most attractive locations. The three winning concepts will receive a global grant of €300,000 to finance their opening – for a store or a pop-up location – in one of our flagship shopping destinations in Barcelona, La Maquinista or Glòries.
Start-ups have until September 30 to apply.
The names of the three laureates will be revealed on November 28.
The Gran Premio Retail aims to become a catalyst for innovation in the region. All participants will thus benefit from the Group’s unique retail expertise throughout the competition, thanks to workshops and coaching sessions. By providing young brands with the means to succeed, we empower local talent and foster a dynamic entrepreneurial ecosystem that will further strengthen our communities and boost economic development.
