URW for Jobs was awarded at EPRA Conference in Berlin
Unibail-Rodamco-Westfield’s URW for Jobs initiative received today the award for most Outstanding Contribution to Society 2018 for its Community & Tenants Engagement during the EPRA Conference in Berlin.
The EPRA Award was created to reward initiatives that create social-environmental positive change in communities.
Conducted on a yearly basis, the URW for Jobs programme, sponsored by Unibail-Rodamco-Westfield’s Chief Executive Officer and Chief Resources Officer, aims at bridging the gap between local unemployed young people and job opportunities offered by retailers in the Group’s shopping centres. In partnership with NGOs and public agencies, these young people are trained and coached by Unibail-Rodamco-Westfield employees, and introduced to retailers during job fairs.
In 2017, URW for Jobs was rolled out in 8 countries and 15 shopping centres in Europe. More than 18,000 hours of training were provided to 441 young candidates. 250 of them found a job through the programme (57%) and 157 confirmed their employment 6 months after (35%).
In 2018, the programme is being extended to 33 shopping centres in 10 countries, and has a target to find employment for at least 500 young people. By 2020, the Group aims to help 1,000 young people per year.
Congratulations to the Unibail-Rodamco-Westfield teams for making this possible! We are proud of contributing to making Better Places together.
